Day 1 box office results for Ram Setu place the Akshay Kumar drama as the year’s 2nd largest opener with Rs 15.25 cr

Ram Setu, starring Akshay Kumar, earned a respectable sum on its first day of release. On its first day, the movie brought in Rs 15.25 crore.
Raj Bansal, a film distributor and industry expert, tweeted the data with the following statement: “On Day1 Tuesday (Diwali Holiday) @akshaykumar #RamSetu collects Appox. NBO China (sic)

Ram Setu reportedly did well in populous areas like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Since the film was released a day after the celebrations of Diwali, that element has also benefited its box office performance.

Akshay Kumar, who plays Ram Setu, hasn’t had a good year with most of his films flopping at the box office, including titles like Raksha Bandhan and Samrat Prithviraj. The box office numbers would be a comfort to the producers and Akshay Kumar.

Shubhra Gupta, a film critic for The Indian Express, wrote in a section of her review of Ram Setu, “Myth, religion, reality, belief: ‘Ram Setu’ takes all these elements, gives them a good shake, letting them settle where they will, and presents yet another Akshay Kumar film strictly embedded in the times we live in. Dr. Aryan Kulshrestha (Kumar) is an archaeologist who adheres to the principles of evidence-based science. He has little patience for anybody, including his beloved wife (Nushrratt Bharuccha), a professor of literature who is allied with the “vishwaas.”
