For the OTT release of Brahmastra, Ayan Mukerji claims to have rewritten “parts of Shiva-love Isha’s story”: I made too many severe edits.

Ayan Mukerji, the film’s director, discussed Brahmastra’s recent OTT release and what’s new about it. He also acknowledged that he had previously removed actor expressions owing to a time constraint.

Brahmastra by Ayan Mukerji had its Disney+ Hotstar premiere on Friday, two months after it had its theatrical launch in September. The director claimed he has added depth to the love story of Shiva and Isha, played by Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, in a new interview, giving viewers fresh reasons to watch it again on the streaming site. In September, Brahmastra had its theatrical debut. With a global revenue of 431 crore, despite the poor reviews, it was the highest-grossing Hindi movie of the year. Along with Alia and Ranbir, it also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna, and Shah Rukh Khan made a surprise cameo appearance.
Ayan recently mentioned what was unique about the OTT release when discussing it. We kept working for the digital release, he said in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. We improved the movie’s audio. The music composer Pritam Dada arrived and fixed several details that weren’t there in the film version. I went back and made a few adjustments to the edit. Ayan also outlined the changes made to Alia’s “love graph” for the OTT release. He explained how the film’s constrained running time prevented crisp trims from capturing Ranbir and Alia’s reactions. He thought that the movie could try the patience of the viewers. He acknowledged that there were a few spots where he believed he had cut the text too severely and said, “I inserted certain portions in Shiva and Isha’s love story, Isha’s attraction to Shiva, and a couple of exchanges. It’s all really subtle. I think it will make the movie’s trip a little smoother.
By coincidence, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed their daughter only two days after Brahmastra’s OTT release. Throughout Alia’s pregnancy, the pair promoted the movie. Ayan was photographed on Monday leaving the Mumbai hospital where Alia and her newborn child are being treated.
