Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Begins US Visit, Key Meets On Agenda

Inaugural Meetings of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s Visit to the United States are scheduled. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister, will embark on an official visit to the United States on April 18 to participate in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, as well as the G20 Finance Ministers meeting and the Central Bank Governor Meeting, among other events (FMCBG).
According to a release from the Ministry of Finance, the visit will also include various bilateral exchanges, including with Indonesia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and South Africa, as well as a high-level discussion with World Bank President David Malpass, among other things.

The Finance Minister will also undertake one-on-one talks with CEOs from industries such as semiconductors, energy, and other areas that are important to the Indian government.

During her visit, Finance Minister Sitharaman will take part in a high-level panel discussion on “Money at a Crossroads,” which will be chaired by the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.

In addition to her official engagements with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the G-20, and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Nirmala Sitharaman will participate in an event at the Atlantic Council, a prominent think tank based in Washington DC, and will meet with faculty and students at Stanford University, among other places.

Nirmala Sitharaman is the third high-level minister to visit the United States in the last week, following the visits of External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who both attended the India-US 2 2 ministerial meeting with their US counterparts on April 11 in Washington.
