On Tuesday in Delhi, on the fourth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s death, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and union ministers paid a heartfelt tribute to the former prime minister. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister of India for three terms.

In the country’s capital, the leaders could be seen laying flowers at AB Vajpayee’s memorial, Sadaiv Atal. Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, both union ministers, paid their respects to the late BJP leader and former prime minister along with PM Modi. Vajpayee died in 2018 after being sick for a while. In the morning, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also went to the memorial to pay his respects.

According to his biography on the official website for India’s prime ministers, the veteran member of the BJP had his first experience with nationalist politics when he joined the Quit India Movement in 1942, which helped end British colonial rule. It says that the leader was “an enthusiastic supporter of women’s rights and social equality,” and that “over the years, he grew into a leader whose liberal worldview and commitment to democratic ideals earned him respect.”

He had been India’s prime minister three times before: for a short time in 1996, from 1998 to 1999, and for a full term from 1999 to 2004.

Yogi Adityanath, who is the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, was one of many people who remembered Vajpayee. Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, known as “Bharat Ratna,” was a popular mass leader, an ardent nationalist, a powerful speaker, and the inspiration of many workers. When he died, he was honoured for all of these things. Your unfettered engagement in politics and the public arena will always be the gold standard for democracy, he stated on Twitter.

The mayor of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, also said thank you. On the anniversary of his passing, he tweeted, “My respects to former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji.”

In 2015, Vajpayee also got the Bharat Ratna, which is India’s highest honour for a civilian. He was also a good writer and public speaker. His poetry is also well-known, and most of it was written in Hindi. Vajpayee died on August 16, 2018. He had been hospitalised in June for a kidney infection.
