The home minister for Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, said on Sunday that he had asked the police to look into the accident that killed Cyrus Mistry, who was the former chairman of Tata Sons. The tragedy happened in Palghar on Sunday afternoon. Palghar is about 100 kilometres from Mumbai.

A senior Mumbai police officer said that Mistry’s car hit a divider on a bridge over the Surya river.
Authorities in the Palghar district say that Mistry and three other people were on their way from Gujarat to Mumbai. The other three people in the car were the famous gynaecologist Dr. Anahita Pandole, her husband Darius Pandole, and his brother Jehangir Pandole. In Vapi, Gujarat, a hospital is caring for Dr. Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole, who are not thought to be in danger.
Even though the police haven’t said for sure, it’s likely that Dr. Pandole was driving when the accident happened.
The driver may have lost control of the car, according to early evidence, says the news agency ANI. According to reports, Mistry’s dead body is at a government hospital in Kasa.
According to Palghar Police sources, the police are filing a death report because it was an accident.
