In a case where a polling inspector was attacked, this court gave Bollywood actor and Congress leader Raj Babbar two years in prison for his part in the incident.
In addition to three other crimes, Babbar was found guilty of hurting a public servant on purpose to stop him from doing his job. The court also fined him Rs. 8,500.
During the election in May 1996, Babbar was reported to the police by the polling officer. The report was given to the police station in Wazirganj, which is in this area. Babbar ran for office at that time as a candidate for the Samajwadi Party.
Babbar was in the courtroom when the judge told the crowd what the verdict was.
