Ensure Covid Rules Are Obeyed Or Yatra Will Be Suspended, Minister Tells Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, has received a letter from the Union Health Minister requesting that he follow Covid regulations during his Bharat Jodo Yatra or postpone additional legs of the Yatra “in the good of the nation.”

In New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, has received a letter from the Union Health Minister requesting that he obey Covid regulations during his “Bharat Jodo Yatra” or risk having it suspended “in the national interest.”
The Congress responded by referencing PM Narendra Modi’s most recent election campaign in Gujarat. According to Congressman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, “The BJP is afraid of the yatra because Rahul Gandhi is getting a great response and is all over social media.”

Of his letter, Minister Mansukh Mandaviya mentions that three BJP members from Rajasthan “raised worry” over the recent rise in Covid cases around the world.
Concerns in other nations have arisen as a result of China’s increase. Over the past year, India has relaxed a lot of the protocol; nevertheless, there is currently talk of further tightening.

The minister said in his letter dated December 20, while the Yatra was in Rajasthan, “I request [Rahul Gandhi] that Covid protocols, including usage of masks and sanitizers, be rigorously observed during the march and only those who are vaccinated be permitted to participate.” On Wednesday it arrived in Haryana.

The minister has also written, “If this Covid protocol cannot be adhered to, then in view of the public health emergency, and to rescue the country from the Covid pandemic, I implore you to stop the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in the national interest.”

Additionally, he has an attachment from three MPs outlining how the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, tested positive for the coronavirus following his participation in the yatra.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a leader in the Congress, called the letter “a effort to divert.”

Speaking in Hindi, he said, “Was Modi ji wearing a mask when he went door to door to seek votes in Gujarat? The yatra has stunned the BJP and it’s reacting in fear.”

He claimed that although “people from all over India” are participating in Rahul Gandhi’s yatra, the Health Minister “may not like it.”

“He said, “But now Rahul Gandhi is all over social media. The yatra has undermined the propaganda the BJP pushes through godi (pliant) media. The yatra is getting a lot of attention and is having a significant impact. Because of this, the Modi administration has sent (Mansukh) Mandaviya to find any justification to try to discredit the yatra.”
