Football World Cup impact: Bangladesh PM calls for direct diplomatic relations with Argentina

Bangladesh will participate in the upcoming G-20 conference in New Delhi as a “guest country,” along with Argentina, which is a member of the group.
On December 19, 2022, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina congratulated Argentina on winning the FIFA World Cup and suggested the two nations establish embassies in each other’s cities.

“I’ve found it to be pleasantly surprising how strongly our two people are connected by our shared passion of football, especially the Argentine squad. By spontaneously celebrating your national football team’s victory in the World Cup Football Championship, the people of Bangladesh have shown their affection and love for you, according to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
