The Prime Minister declared the Jal Jeevan Mission in August 2019 to give regular clean water to all families. However, at the hour of its dispatch, just 17% (32.3 million) of the country’s rustic families had a regular water supply. 

“Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, over the most recent two years, over 5 Crore families have been given regular water associations. About 8.26 Crore (43%) country families have a regular water supply in their homes. 

Each country family in 78 areas, 58 thousand Gram Panchayats and 1.16 lakh towns are getting faucet water supply,” the PMO explanation said, adding that at this point, regular water supply has been given in 772,000 schools and 748,000 Anganwadi focuses. 

The drive has been carried out in association with states with a spending plan of ₹36,000,000, and ₹14,200,000 has been additionally given to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) “as a tied award under the fifteenth Finance Commission for water and sterilization in towns for the period 2021-2022 to 2025-2026.”
