Previous parliamentarian and veteran columnist Chandan Mitra passed away late on Wednesday after a delayed ailment, his child Kushan Mitra said. He was 65. 

“Since it is now out there, Dad died toward the end of last night. He had been languishing over some time,” he tweeted. 

Mitra was a selected individual from the Rajya Sabha from August 2003 to 2009. In June 2010, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got him chosen for the upper house from Madhya Pradesh. His term finished in 2016. He was a nearby helper of party veteran LK Advani. 

 His glorious career as a journalist:

In his celebrated life as a writer, he worked with The Statesman, The Times of India, The Sunday Observer, and Hindustan Times before joining The Pioneer. 

In July 2018, Mitra, manager and overseeing overseer of The Pioneer, left the BJP and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Notwithstanding, he kept on being the MD of the paper till June this year.

Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta took to Twitter and said he lost his dearest companion. Posting a photograph from a school trip in 1972, Dasgupta stated, “I lost my dearest companion—editorial manager of Pioneer and previous MP Chandan Mitra—earlier today. 

We were together as understudies of La Martiniere and went on to St Stephen’s and Oxford. We joined news coverage simultaneously and shared the enthusiasm of Ayodhya and the saffron wave.” 

MP Shashi Tharoor also Tweeted:

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor recalled Mitra as his mission administrator in the political decision for St Stephen’s College Union Society. “Profoundly disheartened by this news. 

In my fruitful competition, Chandan was my mission administrator to be President of the St Stephen’s College Union Society, served in my Cabinet, and succeeded me. We kept in contact throughout the long term, amusingly till I got back to Delhi& governmental issues isolated us. So tear,” Tharoor tweeted. 

Dr. Chandan Mitra also had politic connections:

Aside from his expert capabilities, his insight into Hindi film music was amazing, which he utilized with incredible impact in his mediations and compositions.,” Rajya Sabha part Jairam Ramesh tweeted. 

Leader Ram Madhav also expressed condelence:

Senior BJP pioneer Ram Madhav additionally communicated his sympathies. “Exceptionally sorry to learn about the downfall of previous MP and senior writer Sh Chandan Mitra. He was an old buddy. 

Served on the India Foundation Board for a long time until his wellbeing constrained him to pull out from public activism. Sympathies to @kushanmitra and other precious. Om Shanti,” he tweeted.
